I'm still working on it - so annoying that I can push out a website for a customer in literally days, but my own drags on and on....for one reason or another. I ran into issues with slideshows I purchased and can't utilize on the design I set up, then I changed my mind, then I had to add to the menu....ugh. It looks great and will be a total relief once it's up, but it's just dragging on too long! I'm a person who likes to have things crossed off my list - this is a biggie that hasn't gotten crossed off yet. The site has taken a back seat to my job, the kids, everything - so now I'm working late at night so nothing else gets in the way. So hopefully soon!
The wedding show went great - I met some really nice people, made some good contacts, and I even got a few weddings booked from it. I was a little worried about it making sense for me since Mankato has a lot of photographers anyway, but once again I was proven wrong and I'm glad. I do love the show - I love all trade shows - it's nice to meet people that I really click with and know I could do a great job on their wedding or any other type of photos. I've been meeting with brides quite a bit these past few weeks so I'm enjoying that too - I always think of being a wedding planner when I sit down with brides because I enjoy talking about all their plans, not just the photos! But I think I'll leave that up to the pros - I'm lucky to be organized enough to do the photography part. :)

Websites and wedding shows and more, oh my!
I haven't gotten any better about blogging - I'm hoping to make an improvement there once the new website is up and running. Customer previews are something I'd like to include here; our work is shown on Facebook most of the time but even then I still don't do as much updating as I could. So - new resolution! Keep things fresh.
The annual Mankato Bridal Show is this weekend, and once again I'm participating. I'm looking forward to it as I always do; it's a fun time, I love watching the hopeful couples come in and make their plans and talking to new people about weddings - what more could you ask for?!! Plus it gives me a chance to update my own marketing materials and get my name out there, something I haven't spent much time doing in the past year. Another resolution. :)
So within the week I'll have a new website up and running, new printed business cards and rack cards to show off the new look as well, and a new advertising video I have yet to complete. :) Follow along, readers - lots of fun in store!

5/26/11 First Blog Post
I finally caved in and started a blog for myself because my website blog never gets updated. I have to do so much to my website, design of the blog especially, that I took the easy way out and let someone else design this one. :)
Wedding season is upon us, and I'm looking forward to it! My life is very different than it was last year when I was hugely pregnant and seemed to have more energy than I should have, and this year I have a very active new baby and a new job that keep me really busy. I look forward to the weddings because of the relationships they create; I find I've been very lucky to have a good rapport with the couples, and it just makes the event that much more special and enjoyable. And I love having my family with me to share it; my sons are both so into music that it's hard not to want to bring them to the receptions and let them jump right in!
So now that it's easier with a template and a service to put this together for me, I'll be posting photos and more updates about how things are going with my business. I'm thinking of doing more advertising to get the word out there finally; I wish there were more hours in a day so I could focus a little more on that but doesn't everyone wish the same??!
